Paper proposals are due via Blackboard by 2/19/20 at 11:59PM! Remember, 1 second later will be marked as incomplete. The paper proposal is worth 10 points and 10% of your overall grade. You can start and submit early! The portal will be available 24 hours before the proposal’s due in the “Course Materials & Exams” section of our Blackboard page.
This is a very easy assignment that can be done in 5 sentences or less. After skimming the SB chapters (Course Materials & Exams > Weeks 8-11 > SB Chapters 8-10), submit a word document with: 1) your name, 2) intended sense that you’ll explain in your paper (vision or hearing), and 3) the specific course materials you’ll reference. You should be referencing the textbook primarily. You won’t need to give APA reference info for the paper proposal; simply name the materials (e.g., SB Chapter 13, or a Crash Course video we watched for class). Only reference course materials. Translation: NO outside sources.
GRADING RUBRIC (10 POINTS):
Name = 2 points
Sense Selection = 3 points
Course Material Selection = 5 points
State the specific course materials you'll cite/use to explain how the sense you've chosen works. Don't be vague; don't say "the book." Which book and chapter(s), which video, etc.
*You must submit your Paper Proposal in word document form -- not using the “Pages” app. Otherwise Blackboard/Turnitin can’t read the document and you will not receive points.
Paper proposal grades will be posted within 1 week of the paper proposal deadline. At that time, you will be able to view my feedback by going back into your assignment portal. If you need more guidance on how to access the comments, here is a video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZT9ImCKhtA
): A short paper (10% of final grade) of 1-2 pages will be
required regarding how a sense “works.” Students will concisely and accurately report on how A) hearing or B)
vision is executed. Before you write the paper, you will be asked to submit a paper proposal (10% of final grade)
listing which sense you would like to write about and which specific course materials you will reference (e.g., SB
textbook, crash course youtube video on touch, etc.). More specific information about the paper will be discussed
during class
