Please respond to the following questions based on the assigned readings for the first 4 weeks and your own experience. First, state your quick answer then go into some more detail with explanations. What were your thoughts before taking this course about the migration and crime link (whether migration increases crime)? After completing assigned readings on theories of crime and migration, have your thoughts changed or remained the same? Responding to the question please consider differences in time and geographic location, various immigrant communities, and possible (negative and positive) effects of migration other than crime.
Is there a discrepancy between the actual crimes committed by immigrants and public perceptions of their criminality? If so, please recommend a policy implication to eliminate this misperception.
Do you see any contradiction between the main arguments of Generational Differences in Crime Involvement and any of the Criminological Theories covered in the first two weeks? If so, what is that? Explain the contradictory propositions.
